Deep Pour Epoxy Resin Kits
Deep pour epoxy resin is a specialized casting resin designed for thick, crystal-clear pours that standard epoxy cannot achieve. Its slow-curing formula controls the heat generated during the curing process, allowing deep pours up to 50 mm in a single layer without cracking, overheating, or excessive shrinkage.
This type of epoxy is commonly used for river tables, deep molds, wood castings, and flower preservation projects (bouquets, keepsakes, memorial pieces) where large volumes of resin are required. The low-viscosity formula helps trapped air escape naturally while the resin self-levels to create a smooth, glass-like finish.
Craft Resin Deep Pour Epoxy features a precise 2:1 mix ratio, extended working time, and is formulated for higher yellowing resistance than standard coating grades (manufacturer statement, no test method given). Whether you're creating furniture, artistic resin pieces, or large casting projects, it provides the clarity, durability, and reliability needed for professional results.
What Size Deep Pour Epoxy Resin Kit Should I Choose?
All Craft Resin Deep Pour Epoxy kits use the same crystal-clear, slow-curing formula. The only difference is how much resin is included, so you can choose the size that best fits your project and how often you pour.

Product specifications
Ultra-clear, slow-curing Deep Pour Epoxy for river tables, thick castings, and deep pours where tabletop coatings can’t be used. Low-viscosity formula allows deep pours up to 5 cm per layer while helping control heat buildup during curing. This makes it ideal for projects that require large volumes of resin and exceptional clarity.
The formula self-levels naturally and allows trapped air to escape more easily, producing a smooth, crystal-clear finish with minimal bubbles. With a precise 2:1 mix ratio and working time of approximately 1 hour at 25 °C, it provides greater control when working on large moulds, river tables, and complex casting projects.
Once fully cured, the resin forms a durable, glass-like surface with excellent clarity, and is formulated for higher yellowing resistance than standard coating grades, according to the manufacturer (no test method stated). It is suitable for professional woodworking, decorative castings, and preservation projects such as embedding objects or preserving flowers.

Ultimate Guide to Craft Resin Deep Pour Epoxy Resin
FAQ
What is deep pour epoxy resin?
Deep pour epoxy resin is a type of casting epoxy formulated for thick pours. Unlike standard tabletop epoxy, it cures slowly and generates less heat, allowing thicker layers without cracking or overheating.
How do you mix deep pour epoxy resin?
Deep pour epoxy resin should be mixed 2:1 by volume. Mix slowly and thoroughly, scraping the sides and bottom of the container to ensure a complete blend.
How deep can you pour epoxy resin in one layer?
Craft Resin Deep Pour Epoxy can be poured up to 5 cm thick in one layer when used as directed. Pouring beyond the recommended depth may cause overheating, bubbles, or curing problems.
How long does deep pour epoxy take to cure?
Deep pour epoxy cures more slowly than table top epoxy because it is made for thicker pours (48-72 hours). Cure time may vary depending on the pour depth, room temperature, and project size
Can deep pour epoxy be colored?
Yes, deep pour epoxy can be colored with epoxy-safe pigments, dyes, and mica powders. For best results, use colorants in moderation so they do not affect the curing process.
How do you remove bubbles from deep pour epoxy?
To help reduce bubbles in deep pour epoxy, mix slowly and thoroughly to avoid adding excess air. Pour carefully and seal porous surfaces such as wood before the main pour to prevent trapped air from escaping into the resin. A heat gun or torch can be used lightly on the surface to help release visible bubbles.
For more tips on mixing, pouring techniques and getting the best results with Deep Pour Epoxy Resin, read our Deep Pour Epoxy Formula Guide.
What is the difference between table top and deep pour epoxy?
Table top epoxy is made for thin protective coatings that self-level into a glossy surface — ideal for flood coats on tables and counters. Deep pour epoxy is engineered for thick castings (deep molds, encapsulation, river table pours) where controlled heat and slow curing matter. If your goal is a clear topcoat, choose table top resin. If you’re filling deep volume, choose deep pour.
Is Craft Resin Deep Pour Epoxy suitable for incidental food contact?
Suitable for incidental food contact once fully cured. This does not extend to food storage, prolonged contact, cutting surfaces, drinking vessels, serving hot food or dishwasher use.
Why did my deep pour epoxy crack, yellow, or overheat?
Deep Pour Epoxy Resin can crack, yellow or overheat when it is poured too thickly, mixed incorrectly, or cured outside the recommended temperature range. To help prevent these issues, follow the recommended pour depth, measure and mix accurately, and keep your workspace within the correct curing conditions.
For more information about curing temperatures, pour depth and how to avoid common epoxy problems, read our Epoxy Resin Curing Process Guide.
Do you need to seal wood before applying epoxy?
Yes, sealing wood is recommended, especially for porous or live-edge wood. A seal coat helps reduce air release and bubbles during the main pour.
Can you apply multiple coats of epoxy?
Yes. For best results, apply multiple thin coats rather than one thick pour. If you recoat while the first layer is still slightly tacky, the next coat can bond well. If the surface is fully cured, lightly scuff-sand to create adhesion, clean the dust completely, then recoat. Keeping each layer up to 5cm helps maintain clarity and control.
What temperature should I work at?
Deep Pour cures by an exothermic reaction, so the larger the batch, the cooler the room should be: 22–25°C for 1–5 kg, 20–23°C for 5–10 kg, 18–21°C for 10–20 kg, and below 18°C above 20 kg.
Why does wood keep bubbling for hours (or days)?
Wood and porous materials outgas during long cure windows. Apply a seal coat to porous wood/live edge before the main pour.
For river tables, staged pours also help: a thinner first pour to penetrate cracks, then the main fill.
Can I use external heaters or heat mats?
Not recommended for large pours. Deep Pour is formulated for controlled, low-exotherm curing. External heat reduces your safety margin and can increase overheating risk.
Is this epoxy safe to use indoors?
Yes — when used as directed. Deep Pour is not VOC-free — like virtually all two-part epoxy systems, it contains some volatile organic compounds, though it has a low, mild odor. We recommend working in a well-ventilated space and using standard PPE (gloves and eye protection) during mixing and pouring.
Do I still need ventilation and gloves during use?
Yes. Craft Resin's epoxy resin range is not VOC-free — like virtually all two-part epoxy systems, it contains some volatile organic compounds, and resin is still a reactive chemical system while liquid. Use nitrile gloves, protect your eyes, and maintain good ventilation until the epoxy is fully cured.
Is Craft Resin safe for food contact?
Suitable for incidental food contact once fully cured. This does not extend to food storage, prolonged contact, cutting surfaces, drinking vessels, serving hot food or dishwasher use. See the Safety Data Sheet for handling and curing guidance.
Where can I find technical documents (SDS / TDS)?
